Found, cleaned, and painted this afternoon. From under the water of a small creek:
Paul Westphal was a barber who started his practice in 1881. Besides cutting hair he also sold a tonic, which consisted of 55% grain alcohol, that purported to strengthen hair and prevent baldness. This particular bottle is machine-made and likely dates from about 1910-1920. I highly doubt this product would have still been legal after prohibition went into effect, though I can't say for certain.
All today's keepers. Two marbles, a brass dish with a chinese character etched on it, Hay's Five Fruit, Leonardi's Cough Syrup, and Paul Westphal Auxiliator For The Hair
Leonardi's Cough Syrup Creosoted
Dug from the bank of the creek. Note the furnace/stove ash, a good sign when digging as it means old human activity. Always look for the ash.
