Anyone seen this brand before, or show it listed anywhere? I've got a plastic wrap around the label, so please excuse the reflections.

Along the top of the label says Contents 16 oz of Sparkling Pep.

Bottom is embossed with a large D in the middle. Above the D is the Owens-Illinois mark with a 3 to the left and a 6 to the right of it, so I assume this is a 1936 bottle? There is also a 2. below the large D.

I picked up a few nice paper label sodas I'll be posting.

Rick

Thought I would resurrect this post of mine from a few years back. It is one of my favorites in my collection.

Would this possibly be Babe Ruth pictured on the label?

His last year playing was in 1935 and then he retired.

They inducted him into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936.

The bottle is dated 1936.

Hey Rick,

It being Cleveland, I'd think it might be someone like Bruce Campbell, who hit .372 in '36. and .325 in '35,

or Earl Averill who batted a career high .378 in '36, improving from .288 in '35.

Perhaps Billy Sullivan at another career high of .351 in '36, up from .266 in '35.

1936 brought another career high to Hal Trosky

.343, up from .271 in '35.

That's a great label to my eyes. I'd love to see more cineramic pictures of that guy, please.

Surfaceone,

You always amaze me with the effort you put into your posts, thanks!

I had forgotten how many great players the Indians had back in those days. Could be the label was meant to reflect that.

We'll probably never know.

Here's a couple more photos.....

Sullivan batted right handed so you can eliminate him, Trosky's nickname was Hoot, Campbell was nicknamed Hump and Averill had two nicknames, Rock or The Earl of Snohomish. It's possible it's a generic figure since there are no markings on the uniform or cap, a great bottle and label indeed...
