These older dumps are out there, not everything good or early is from a privy. You just have to be patient and keep your eyes open. It helps being in the northeast too, where every where you go has history of at least a couple hundred years. It`s good being able to share my finds with everyone instead of drooling over what everybody else is finding and saying why not me?
Bill, great finds - it's exciting to see nice old glass coming from a dump. You're right about being in the northeast - the dumps are here, it just takes diligence and sometimes luck. I hike at least 2 times a week searching for that elusive old dump. Thanks for posting, hope you find more.
after looking at the shard pics it looks like there may be some bitters shards in there if there is a broke one there has got to be a full one in there too
Nice, and at least you got some good whole ones. I keep hoping for something whole from my Stonetown site. Awesome pieces to dig there, I'm hoping at least to find an unknown pontil to add to the historical record.
Wow, nice dig... The paneleded you found that was broken I think was a ct blown bottle. I've dug four broken and one whole while another whole example was found by a friend all in new London county.
Great digz, man! Thanks for these photos. I'd be hard pressed not to be scouring that spot every spare moment.
You're stoking my well banked fire here. I haven't seen the ground in weeks. There's north of two feet of global warming on the ground. The only digging I've done lately has been with that wide bladed snow shovel. I did find one frozen sweat sock. Audible sigh...
Awesome finds. I'm drooling over the pieces as much as the whole ones! [] The neck to the wine you found probably looked like this when whole. Mine is probably German and the form dates to 1760's. I believe.
