I love finding bottles and stoneware but also love finding old clay pipes. Fully intact pipes are neat, so are those with fancy designs such as faces, animals and such. However my favorite are those that show wear from being clenched by the user's teeth.

These three rather plain pipes all have ends ground down by the user's teeth. The bottom one in particular has such character. The user smoked it until almost all that was left was the bowl. In my mind I imagine some frugal New Englander refusing to just buy another pipe until his was totally shot.

All pipes were found while diving off the old steamship wharf.

ORIGINAL: cobaltbot

Some age on a couple of those, what's the stamp on the top one?

It is stamped McDougall on one side and Scotland on the other. From what I have researched McDougall made pipes mostly for the export market.
