Are any of you guys familiar with this ink? The embossing reads DE HALSEY on one side and PATENTE on the other side. The ink is about 3.5" high x 5" across the base. I'm thinking about bidding on this ink at auction, any input would be appreciated. Thanx

I don't know the bottle but the De Halsey name rings a bell.Embossed on a pontilled med maybe? I would bid high on that bottle,it is a great bottle and may not be European made. It looks like it could be American glass, I have dug the Bertinquot bottles in the U.S. and think they were made here for a foreign co..Nice bottle

I haven't seen that one before. It must be huge! I'd bid really high on that.

It's hard to say without knowing the condition, if it's pontiled, or the age and origin. For some reason $400 comes to mind. But I have no idea.

Wow! I was there. If you are the one who bought it, good luck. Forein glass is all over the place in terms of value. I would have taken it to $100 and that's where it opened. In weird colors like light olive or if it was a sheared top and not finished, then you're talking decent value. Believe me, I've been burned on English and French bottles. Just another reason I stay away from Horst most times. I once, at Horst, saw a standard 6 log Drakes in medium amber go for $80 and it had a 4 inch crack in the shoulder. Of course the Horst boys smile all the way to the bank. I'm going to auctioneering school this year and Y'all will be welcome at my sales any time.

I walked out of the gallery as the auctioneer was trying to milk $350 out of it. It was already above fair market. In "black glass" like that should fetch around $200 tops. Of course the lighter the color the higher the price.

Wish I'd seen this post earlier - that's quite a good bottle...
