History
The bottles come both pontiled and smooth based and date from about 1848-1880. The product started by Udolpho Wolfe in New City and was advertised as a medicinal gin tonic, and invigorating cordial. When Udolpho moved to New Orleans he left his brother in charge of the New York operation. Many specimens were dug in New Orleans over the last few decades.

Here is a pontiled Wolfe's Schnapps bottle in a nice dark yellow green. With out light behind it almost looks like black glass. As with the yellow (or Ginger Ale) one I am selling, it too was found in New Orleans. This bottle also was never in the ground and is in near mint condition. It is 9 3/4" tall and embossed:
