Apparently Charles (Charlie) O. Gordon, Sr. was a Shriner member ... (Which might be the connection between the Jug and 1957 Benefit)

Hey Morb!

Do you happen to know if the Mountain Dew jug I posted ...

1. Was the only made for the Shriners and then raffled off - or if there were hundreds of them?

2. What it contained? The label "One Fifth" sounds like booze.

3. Anything else of interest you might know about it.

Thanks a lot.

DN ~

I agree about the TP ... In fact, I keep trying to see and/or squeeze an I between the TP to make it TIP for ...

TIP CORP.

November 30, 1957: Ally Hartman sells the Mountain Dew brand to the Tip Corporation.

So unless the I is missing, then I suppose it is a TP, but I have no clue what that might stand for. I have looked high and low for another picture of the jug, but have been unable to find one, nor even a reference to it.

Morb ~

Please let me know if I'm getting too far off track here - it's just that I like to keep a good thing going. Such as this 1902 ad promoting Mountain Dew "Whiskey." The reason I'm posting this is because the "One Fifth" on the West Virginia jug makes me think of booze and not soda pop.

I should have thought of this earlier!

Here's the link where I found the 1902 Mountain Dew Whiskey ad for those who would like to read it ...
