I must be doing something wrong. I get a message that my pictures are not supported. Please excuse my ignorance.

gif/txt/jpg are supported

That is the tag on your image-file title. If it is not one of those types, you'll have to convert it (jpg or jpeg is what you want) in your image-editing software. You'll get the hang of it after a few times.

When you convert the format to jpg, be certain to reduce the size of the image to 200KB, too.
