I picked this bottle up about 20 yrs ago at a flea market for $15. I don't know much about it other than it's form was started in a ribbed mold and finished by hand. Has a nice solid pontil mark on the base. She's a beauty in the window. Origin thoughts?

It reminds me of a persian bottle, but I don't know if that's the origin. Nice color.

Yeah, I thought that too... kinda like the Persian saddle flasks with the coil around the neck.

I have one that looks much like that, only a darker amethyst, practically black glass without a strong light. I've always wondered. It doesn't look old to me, but I don't know who would have made it.

Hello Brian,

I've revisited your posting several times to gaze at this beauty. You have really captured the "molten" quality of the glass with your "one more shot" photo. Do you think that the color is correctly portrayed in your photos?

I thought "saddle bottle" also when I saw the neck, but somehow always thought those saddle bottles had a slightly flattened form. Ain't nothing about that bottle that is "flat." Thanks for showing this great bottle.

Yes the photos do represent it's true color. I agree the saddle flasks are flat. The ones I've seen are always some shade of green. The ribbed pattern is different too.
