Well, I've been able to enlist a young neighbor, and a nationally known bottle collector, so I'm going to go ahead with my project. My Topographical map from 1918 has come in, and it looks like I have about 20 privies to dig here (with permission) from an old settlement from the early 19th century outside of Augusta, GA. My time is limited, but I hope to have pictures in a few weeks. I am able to get out there every few for a couple of hours at a time, but my wife is going to work less so we can give this bottle hunting thing a try. I'm going to concentrate on the plantation house since they just clear cut back there; we could not see much due to the growth before. Because of our financial situation, I will be selling some stuff I find, but I hope to keep a few bottles in order to start a collection with. The bad news here is that the old train depot is under a new subdivision. BTW, I've been told that the holes I found in the ground earlier were rifle pits from WWI. -John
