Clevenger began making these as lamp fonts in the 1940's-50s and later as pitchers but the mold is probably much older. Star & Shield oil lamps with the exact same pattern were made & sold at the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exposition. Several South Jersey glass companies
made glass at the Gillinder Glass factory at the fairgrounds. Clevenger likely salvaged this mold from one of those companies. The mold is now
in a private collection. An unique bowl made from the mold is now on ebay - here
