I have been collecting Mason/Fruit jars for a little while (still newbie) and have the RB#10 for reference. Do any of you know know of a good book/site for reference for other food type jars and/or milk bottles dates, production marks etc?. I have gotten to like the milk bottles alot lately (started that collection looking for Horlick bottles ) but I know there are alot of repros out there.

Horlicks isn't really a milk, it's a powder form of it sort of but has grain meals in it too. I liked it but don't see it to often anymore.
There are no books I know of that cover everything very well. There are a number of books which help cover some of it.

I agree with Eric, Price Guides are typically of very little definitive use unless they specialize on one category and then they are out of date by the time they get published. There are a few exceptions such as the Red Book for jars and the glass Insulator Price Guide which are updated every few years. Even they are only GUIDES.

There is no quick, easy way to get what you want and need to collect this stuff we enjoy. Keeping a close eye on eBay in your chosen category(s) is the best advice I can give. Love 'em or hate 'em, eBay is THE market place for a wide variety of merchandise including collectibles.

P.S. Remember also, one sale does not set value nor does an ASKING price.

This is a great reference book. There's not many on food bottles, though. Go to this link:

http://www.amazon.com/Ketchup-Pickles-Sauces-Nineteenth-Century/dp/0960524002

And this book is great as well, it has a nice section on old food bottles.

Those are both good books but I'm not sure they fit in the jar area for the most part. I do still like Betty Zumwalt's for sure.
Red Book is good but while it compiles some of Alice Creswicks information it's more of a listing guide that Doug compiles. The original Fruit Jar Works, Vol 1 and 2 are better but are old and may not be as accurate as some up to date but not book formed info. I have Vol. 1 and still hope to get the other if I can afford it.
One to consider is cheap and easy to come by on Amazon. Some information has been corrected over time but it's still worth having as a starter book. Look for "Fruit Jars A Collectors' Manual" by Julian H Toulouse.

Well, it used to be fairly inexpensive. I got mine back 4 years ago for under $10 shipped. This looks like the best now but check other sources.

My suggestions are based on the request for "other food type" jars. As far as milks go, there are good web sites for milk bottle collecting, as well as some books which are still available. Keep plowing through cyberspace....it's all out there if you look hard enough.
