I bought this amber Rawleigh's bottle (7.5" tall) on Ebay. I was wondering what this bottle was/is used for, age. etc.. However, it seems to feel a little too perfect and overall pretty light in weight. There are 2 seams going through the lip. I was suspicious because the lip is characteristic of an 1800's/early 1900's bottle, yet the bottle appears to be ABM. Let me know your thoughts.

i doubt it is a repro. there are still alot of these bottles to be found and they are very common. the product is still bottled to this day, yours looks like a 1920's or 30's bottle.

Hey digger!
Thank you. I was just curious - and concerned. Do you know the value?

I find so many Rawleighs' bottles that I don't even take them home with me anymore.
The amber are the scarcer colored ones, though.
Most I've dug are aqua or light green or clear.
They come in different sizes, too.
Nominal value, I'm afraid.
They sure are plentiful around the Northeastern United States.
Why anyone would want to reproduce these bottles is beyond me.
Repro?????????
Not likely.[:(]

I have the same bottle. Raleigh's used corks untill 1933 so I too doubt it's a repro.

Reproducing bottles like that would be like making repro nickels at a cost of 10 cent a piece if you know what i mean.

Agreed...NOt a repo.

Would like to note that Rawleigh's biggest competitor: the J.R.Watkins Company did issue a Commemorative repo of one of their early corker Trial Mark bottles several years ago.
