Hello all, I'm pretty new to bottle collecting and was hoping someone could recommend a good book or resource on spotting fakes. Theres certain pieces I would like to buy but don't want to get ripped off on places like ebay. I know that handling a lot of glass helps and plan on joining the local bottle club next month. Thanks so much for your time.

Hi Keith,

I don't know beans about bottles but you can learn alot about repro fruit jars by going to my ebay About ME page:

There is also a good site pertaining to repros of almost any item: www.repronews.com

There is a book titled "Antique Fakes & Reproductions" by Ruth Webb Lee. It covers some bottles but goes into everything, including furnature, paperweights, pressed glass etc.. McKearin/Wilsons American Bottles and Flasks also has a section on repros and is the best guide to bottles around in most collectors opinions. Expect to pay 50-125 dollars for that one though.
