Hemi, you humans fear things so much. I've never had an issue going into a place where "If you're white, you'll need a black escort," say others. Sounds racy and discriminatory to me. Frankly I think you all enjoy blowing fears out-of-proportion. If you're so worried, tell someone where you're going and for how long, if someone's following you promptly leave, and bring a knife. You'll be just fine.

Not many areas that dangerous here in Canada (unless you count areas inhabited by bears), only maybe Vancouver and Toronto have actual dangerous neighbourhoods, and even that's a bit of a stretch, so this isn't exactly my area of expertise, but from what I've heard from Americans a reflective vest and a hard hat will work wonders.
