Connor, here is the bottle you asked about: it is the SA Breweries beer bottle with an internal screw stopper:

The embossing is a bit tricky to photograph as it curves around half of the bottle and the base section is very thick:

Bottom two lines are "South African Breweries". Supposedly one got a deposit back on these, but the Lane is yielding a remarkable number of them:

Of particular interest for us is the H embossed on the base: this indicates that the bottle was made at the Hatherley glass works near Pretoria and is thus one of the earliest bottles commercially manufactured in SA. (ie around 1895 - 1900)
We also get SA Brewery bottles with Riley London on the base, obviously imported from England.
