Here is an unusual bottle I dug last weekend. It was found in a dump that was mostly 1890's bottles in upstate NY. The front has a fancy circle around the embossing "Sister's Hospital Pharmacy 1833 Main St. Buffalo". The top is a blob top, the wire and stopper were present when found but they were badly rusted and later fell off. The bottom is smooth-based and embossed "WT Co 1 USA". The seam stops at the bottom of the neck. It reminds me of the earlier USA Hospital Department bottles but is probably newer. The bottle is 7.5 inches tall and 2.75 inches diameter. I can't find any information or value on this one. ANY help is appreciated. Pictures to follow.

Last one. Another view of the entire bottle. This must be from Buffalo, NY. The hospital can be found on the internet, it was established about 1848 and is still in business. I would like to know what this bottle held and what the rarity/value would be?? The form looks 1870's but the dump was mostly newer than that, maybe a late throw? Once again I was digging for stoneware and found a good glass bottle. Maybe I will start digging for glass in the future so I can luck into a stoneware bottle. Thanks. stonebottle

Definitely Citrate of Magnesia bottle. Those often come with porcelain stoppers. I'm no expert on NY bottles but I suspect that to be a scarce bottle.

Generally speaking the citrate bottle for a given druggist/pharmacy is a good deal rarer than the prescription bottles from the same concern. But I know next to nothing about New York State bottles specifically.
