Dug stone liner last spring, probed a spot adjacent to it. Dug it this weekend. It was about 2 foot deep then very hard black clay/dirt, no walls. Broken stuff on top 1 foot. Seemed like there was a lot of burnt coal and cinders. The soft dirt followed the east wall of the privy down. I'm thinking the dirt pit was dug after the privy.

Comments or thoughts appreciated.
