I'm seeing Peeps with queries about how to ID...are they talking company that made the marble, OR the name collectors have given the marble...ie..." cub scout"...OR the type of marble... ?
Kinda confuzzling to say the least...[8|]
Also, another thing: taking pix. Just where on a particular marble do you "focus" your eyes...in order to both name & take pix?? I noted lots of yours were on the "9" portion of a marble. And some were on the fold....
With German Transitionals I'm not aware of any Company Names. There are Company Names as well as Collector Names. Folks recognize the Company Names mostly like .......Akro Agate (company) Corkscrew (type) Prize Name (company name).
With Amercan Transitionals you have Navarre, Barberton ( both James Leighton) and really M.F. Chrisatensens Slags are transional too though nott usually called that.
Taking pics to I.D. a Marble you shoot the poles (or seams) and shoot to sides to establish a glass pattern.
With Handgathereds if you are only showing one pic of them this is the best angle to show. Kinda like some folks having a better side for picture taking.
RoadDog...most informative.[] Thanks. I'll practice taking pix based on that.
Your marbles and those in books,etc..all appear "shiny"...is there something you do or are they actually that gleaming?
Most of mine are dug...ie...dull-looking - thus not expected to appear "mint."
