I have't posted in awhile, since my old username Brichardson58 vanished from the ABN system for some reason :( At any rate, I have been digging periodically over the summer. Mostly 1890s-19teens stuff, with the occasional late throw. Here are some dig pictures and a couple interesting bottles.

This dump has a crazy compact rusty layer on top. This actually is a blessing as it has proved to be a barrier against lazy diggers over the years.

Now we are getting to the 5 foot and deeper level, where a 2 foot seam of glass is located.

A small and fragile perfume pops out of the lower layer

This crier is a Hall's Pulmonary Balsam from San Francisco. Solid 1870s with crude aqua western glass. Also an old painted clay marble.

A nice old whiskey lies near the bottom of the dump. The whiskies in here are usually out of Portland, Oregon.

This is what the whiskey sees after 100+ years in total darkness. The bottle digging angel has finally arrived.

This is a fantastic sample whiskey flask that came out of this dump a month or two ago. It is from the Hotel Portland Oregon.

Here is a very ususual little pharmacy/druggist bottle. It is embossed NO NARCOTICS ALCOHOL. The only record I can find of a bottle with that embossing is a Hickory Bark Cough Remedy medicine out of Salem, Oregon. This was dug in that vicinity so likely was a small version of it. It dates to about 1900-1910, right around when the Pure Food and Drug act was passed and it was popular to advertise the purity of your medicine. I have this one on auction right now at Ebay.

I usually get a bucket from this site each dig I do, so it keeps me happy. I will post more pictures as I come across them.

Great to see stuff coming out of the West as well as the East and mid-West. That is a terrific little flask. hope it turns out to be rare. In the John L. Thomas book titled: "Whiskey Bottles and Liquor Containers From The State of Oregon" published in 1998 as listing number 53 he describes it as a "Defender" flask and made prior to prohibition in 1915 but more likely from 1900 - 1905. He also lists the price at an average of $35 but that doesn't mean a lot. Apparently that style flask is not overly appealing to collectors. It should be worth more today.

Nice digs. Some more detailed pics of the bottles would be most appreciated.
