I don't that much about snuff bottles, but that is the biggest and most ornate stand .
Is this a master snuff, like you would put your snuff in it and then refill your smaller snuff bottle.
Maybe, you just snorted it with a straw straight from the large container?

The check marks and shallow lines he is talking about...is that the thin, spiderweb-like lines circling the jar? You can see it very well in the last picture. What would cause that?

The size and shape is about right for a cephalic snuff. Never saw one that looked like that though. maybe I've led a sheltered existance.

Maybe the different temps/ or strain the applied glass filligreed corners created on the "regular" bottle when annealed or attached? Just could be...

If so, it is amazing that is lasted so long. One would think that any little temperature shock would have cause it to crack up. It is a very neat piece of glass.
