Great website. Hope you can help me. I generally understand how to identify Owens-IL bottles and grew up in Streator, IL and had family members work at that plant. The following pictures show a bottle that has the exact same front side identifiers as OI Squirt bottles from the early 40's, but the base reads 700, C inside square, 8 I have also not seen one with the back side reading A DRINK-A MIXER. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Here is the front. I couldn't figure out how to put two or three pictures in one post.

Welcome to the forum.

Look super close at the mark with a magnifying glass. Very likely a "G" in a square. There is no (American) soda bottle maker I know of that uses a "C" in a square.

SPB

G in a square ... Glenshaw Glass Company, Glenshaw, PA (1895-2004). Mark reportedly used since 1932. Glenshaw Glass Company later became part of the Anchor Glass Container Corporation, but then was bought by Consumers Packaging Inc, of Toronto, Canada. The Glenshaw plant was closed in November of 2004. In 2007 the Glenshaw glass plant re-opened after extensive renovation and re-organization, and is now producing glass containers and other ware under the name Kelman Bottles, LLC. (2008- )

If it is a "G" ... look super close on the "lip" for a letter and then compare it to the chart below for the date the bottle was made ...

Thanks for the very prompt and informative response. I'd say that the "C" could also be a "G". It makes sense that this bottle lists Zep's Beverage in Kingston, PA. And ... I did locate the letter "L" on the bottle which makes it 1940 and the older than the 1941 OI squirt bottle I have. Also it appears that on the opposite side of the neck appears the number 19. I have another squirt bottle which would appear to have a similar marking on the bottom 700, C or G in a square in the middle, followed by 20. This also says Zep's in Kingston, PA. It also has an L (very faint) and no number on the opposite side. Very helpful. Thank you.
