Stoneware Jug Peeking Out of the Ground (April 26th 2023)

I went to a spot today that I have been digging since 2020 but hadn't touched yet this year. There had been significant erosion since last time I was there which revealed this cute little one gallon jug:

This dump was capped in the summer of 1924 and the finds underneath date as far back as the 1880's (as my many excavations and research so far indicate) Unfortunately encroachment of local infrastructure has rendered it a fraction of the size it once was. About 75% of the dump was excavated 20 years ago to make way for a large drain pipe, I can't even imagine the number of bottles and other artifacts that were destroyed.
