Possible privy, could use some opinions

Take a few shovels full out of that hole.It could be a pit.Who knows what people were thinking back then. Maybe they didn't mind the long walk.
I have dug pits a crazy long distance from the house. The only way to know is dig it. Rick

Yeah, I say go for it. Open it up and see what it is. Even if it's not a privy, it could be a trash pit or something else? You just Never know till have a look. If it ends up being more than you can do on your own, fill it back in and call for back up! You can Always come back and dig a privy another day, but it never hurts to do a test hole and determine what you're up against. Might even get a few finds right out of the top?
