I made a trade with a collector for a small pontil bottle that is embossed with pynchon and boston on it. It is 4 ins tall and aqua in color. Does anyone know who made it, or what it was used for?
I could not find any info on it

Embossed near base? Oval with a rolled lip?
If so, its a fairly common pontil medicine worth about $20-25.

If it's like what Guntherhess said, it was a flavoring extract bottle, c. 1850.
