This is my wife's grand father, Wayne Morgan. Enlisted June,24 1940. After training on the very first 240mm Howitzer regiment, he shipped out from Newport Virginia on December 23, 1943. They landed in North Africa, stayed 2 weeks then on to the invasion of Italy. His regiment supported the push, mountain to mountain of entrenched German troops all the way to Rome and into northern Italy. From there it was on to France for that invasion. He crossed the Rhine River in Germany in September of 1945. He also served as radio operator and marksman rifleman. He was awarded the Campaign Medal with four bronze stars and the American defense medal. He was a great patriot and I admired him greatly. He passed five years ago this July 4th. I salute him and all his Brothers in Arms past, present and future.[attachment=image.jpg]
