Hi Jen,sorry I am just seeing this now at 10:35. I worked in the heat all day ate dinner came on the forum for a little while saw the grim news about Lobeycat and zonked for 2 hours. The pitcher is very nice looking I admit I have never seen this type of footed bottom before. The color is it Green, Grey or is it the lighting behind the piece.I will have to look in a few of my books for this type of applied footing.
I Forgot to ad this there is staining and wear on the bottom so thats a plus.I will look in some of my resources and get back to you either later this evening or by tomorrow evening.
Check page 14 on the upper right. There is two master salts there. One has the regular flatter petaled foot and the other has a foot like this pitcher.
Those are the ones I was speaking of. I could not get the larger photos, thanks for those Steve. The pitcher came from a man in Maryland so it could be that old. That would be so cool. There are not many blown pitchers around from that era in American glass. The color is a greyish green and I read that was a common color for Wistarburgh, could it possibly be from there?
I really wonder who made it. Is there any way to tell for sure? I read some where that one professor can date and place them to the exact glass house from a small piece of glass off the pontil. Wouldn't I risk damaging the piece to get some glass off or is it pretty safe?
