I’m always researching Vernor’s Ginger Ale and trying to date various Vernor’s items. In my latest Vernor’s Club newsletter I talk about Vernor’s ACL bottles. Unless you can show me a bottle I don’t know about, I’m pretty sure this is the first ACL that Vernor’s produced. You can read my logic below.

Because of Vernor’s long history, I’ve never been very interested in their ACLs. They stuck with the same design for decades. This is an interesting one.

Very true! They had basically the same ACL design for 27 years. One interesting subset of the ACL bottles are the bottling cities listed on the back. We now know of 101 different cities where Vernor’s was bottled and there’s an ACL bottle with the city name on the back.

Here’s an updated list of all the places (that we know of at this point) where Vernor’s was bottled. There is an ACL bottle of each city listed with the possible exception of those with asterisks.

I collect bottles manufactured by the Hemingray Glass Company. Among those they produced a bottle nearly identical to this one, in a more slightly ice blue color. I am sure you know what I am talking about if you have collected their bottles for some time. The painted label one you posted is more of an ice green.
