I picked this up with a group of other bottles. I was surprised to be unable to find any information on it. The only id beyond the name is 'trade mark' under the name, 'CONTENTS 7 OZS. on the heel and '7 FLU.OZS. / 29 S' on the base. The bottle is 7 7/8
inches tall.
Any information would be welcome.
George

A brand developed in what is now considered 'ancient Rome'. It was known as the poets drink. One of the slogans was "Virgils, Aeneid nice"

Some of the flavors were:

'Sweet Lead'
'Christians Blood'
'Locust & Honey'
'Passum'
'Fig Syrup'
'Spikenard'

The rarest bottles will be found in 'Tyrian purple'. Other than the size you have, some can be found in XII, XVI, XXXII and the jumbo VXII oz, sizes.

Not much else is known about tis obsure bottler as is the case w/ so many of the same genre.................................."Everything may be history, but there aint a history on everything"

Appearently it was owned by the National Fruit Flavor Company of New Orleans, LA. The link above is for one of their labels.

The National Fruit and flavor co. organized in April 1917 with Virgil Browne and Ira B. Harkey as organizers. They manufactured flavors and colors for the bottling industry.

They registered the Virgil's trademark in Canada in January 1930 which of course was a Ginger Ale product.
