Hey Chris,your bottle most likely came came from Estellville... The Whitney Brothers were buying out other glass works through out the mid 1800s. I walked and explored this site and found pieces of the exact type of double taper mouths shown on your bottle. Nice find.. Check out my website

Steve, thanx for the info and the link, so I guess it's safe to assume it's a less common variant.

Estellville although large in size ( The main Factory was 80 by 40) and all the buildings were in an area about 200 x 200 was moderately sized when compared to,The Whitney glass works total size which were a city block in size 500x 500 feet. Yes your bottle is the rarer of the Whitney Porter bottles Chris. Nice color also and that double taper puts the age anywhere from 1855 to 1870.

I think they made a slight error in the punctuation and should be WHITNEYS' as Steve indicated. Definitely uncommon.
