Good morning all, I have recently found a clear qt. bottle(blob top I believe) from William J. Byrnes of Rome N.Y..
It is a heavy two seam bottle with the name and location in a circle on the front, also says this bottle not to be sold on the back.

Any info would be appreciated, thanks and best wishes.....Joe

Hello Joe,

Welcome to the A-BN. It would be nice if you could post some photos of your Byrnes.

Is it like the Hotel Byrnes example?

From.

"Collectors will find that quite a few bottles have survived from the Avery N. Lord, C. W. Sharp, Ennis and the Byrnes bottling establishments; but very few are left from the Utica Steam Bottling Works."

Sounds as if there was a great deal of bottlenapping occurring in Rome.

Byrnes seems to have been an important family in Rome in the waning days of the 19th Century:

"LEE - Rome, New York. Fong Ah Yu, who is under indictment for the murder last July of SING LEE, the Chinese laundryman, in this city, will probably be tried at the present term of court in this city. Chief of Police Byrnes started for Montreal Tuesday, to subpoena important witnesses for the prosecution. Should all things be in readiness at that time, it is expected that the trial will commence on Monday, March 29. (RCMar19/1886)" From.
