Is that an atlatl weight? Sure looks like one.

Nice Banner! I do the same thing with bottles, arrowheads or anything else I find and REALLY like! It takes a good week or so of packing it around with you to really KNOW for sure if there is any damage... or if it's PERFECT!!! LOL

Thanks. These came from the same roughly 10 x 20 ft. area over maybe a six month period.

That banner is sweet! I would have passed out if I saw that laying there. Amazing!!

The beads are sweet too a ton of work went into them, never find beads in New England.

I feel your pain guys. I've been in hibernation. It's warmed up a little to around 30 and it feels balmy! I sure could use a dig. I'm dreaming about finding bottles. In the meantime, I just read about them and look at the ones I have. Joe and the gang were talking about a possible outing this weekend to explore. All I know is the place has an old abandoned truck. I'll be looking in it for some old coins. I keep thinking and thinking about some old spots in my hometown. I wish I could get back there now that I know more.

Like some of the other guys said, it's a bannerstone, which in my humble opinion is an evolution of the atlatl weight. I can't see using one this refined and with that much work as an actual working atlatl weight, but more than likely as part of a presentation-grade atlatl for an important tribe member. An analogy would be the pocketknife you carry around all day, and the engraved collector's knife that's for display only. I hope I'm making sense here.

Dang, I didn't know that "an alogy" was a bad word. Maybe "comparison" would've been a better choice. Sorry about that.
