Hey everyone.
I don't want to muddy up the "digging and finding" forum with this picture, but I think a lot of us cross hobbies in here. Me, I'm a "Metal-detecting, bottle-digging, insulator-snagging, etc" kind of guy. I'll be darned if these goofy poles weren't nearly in my own backyard and I never noticed them! Ripe for the picking. But rather than climb poles, I'm super excited about a design for a grabber-pole that I'm "inventing" and building. Anyone else have retrieval methods for insulators on poles they'd like to share?
Tim

I just use climbing gear! It's super effective, and good exercise!
Of course, you've got to do it right - I had a couple dozen hours clocked in lessons before I dared climb without someone right beside me whilst doing so.
Plus - you really get to see everything from up there. It's better than trying to figure out what you've got from the ground!
All the best!

You got that right. For me half of this hobby is the challenge of a hunt ... a challenge of finding new sites. That in itself is a joy to me.

I've thought of that...too easy. There's got to be a more difficult way. Maybe I can post a closer shot of some of the insulators that you guys can peek at and see if you can ID them better.
