Hi Jim,

I have seen a few of these around in the past few years. Most say they were perfume bottles. I have seen clear, green and yellow ones. Some have gold paint? in the X groves on the sides. Think they are from Europe possibly France. I know of a couple dug here in Maine but most I have seen on antique shops and bottle shows. Usually pricy when I have seen them.

Hi Jim.

Really not sure on age, I would guess late 1800's to turn of century or possibly later, but it is hard to say. Don't think they were made in the US. Think some had a glass stopper that was sort of like a long glass rod. Someone that really collects perfumes could probably have better info.

The XXXs seem to indicate a level range for the capillary tube. Could be a perfume I guess but it looks more like a piece of lab gear.

Yeap, Rose water/perfume vial. They were imported from Romainian I think. The first one I dug years back was in two parts but the second one was intact with cork and partial oily stinky contents.
