Hey all,

Just been offered this hutch from Atlanta; it says 'JP de les Derniers / Atlanta'.

A rare one? If so any idea on the value because this guy asked me to make him an offer...

Do you collect a specific town or state, because I'm sure you know there are many that sell well over $20 each and every day...[;)]

Ahhh I see, there aren't alot of Paterson area hutches I'd pay much more than $20 for either, but there are a couple of caveats, because of one bottler who embossed the dates on his hutches every year I would pay a premium to fill in some of the voids.

DAMN YOU TO HELL GEORGE SPREITZER!!!

Sorry for the bad pic quality, they don't look like this in person, the image has been fiddled with so many times that I ruined the quality, but you get the idea...

I recently discovered some anomalies in the 1882 version, the last year he was still teamed up with Remig, there's now a "BLUTCH"(Blob/Hutch) and what looks like a Gravitating Stopper lip... I kind of hope this means there are Grav and Blutch versions of more of the years, but it might also be the thing that drives me over the edge...[8D]

Here is the hutch I've paid the most for, but it's not worth nearly what I paid for it, I was a victim of my own pettiness and stupidity. There was a collector of Paterson bottles who is no longer living in the area, he is known for paying ridiculous prices for bottles from the area because he no longer had access to the local shows and stuff to add to his collection.

So I decided to teach him a lesson and bid him up like crazy on all his bottles so that he would get so frustrated he would either realize he was creating a "false value basis", or just stop collecting bottles from the area. The idea actually has worked, but one of the last bottles I ran up on him was back in February of 2011, it was this Charles A. Tiffany aqua pint which he was the winner of at $77. I didn't have one and was willing to bid in the $20-25 range because it's uncommon/rare. After it ended he contacted me and told me he was done with bottles from the area because it wasn't feasible anymore! Job well done by me right???

Well about 2 months later I run into the guy who sold him the $77 one from Ebay, turns out he had another in mint condition, the trouble was he wanted $77 for it, because he knew I was the underbidder for the one he had sold. I decided to pay the 3X price for it, CRAZY MOVE you say? well it turns out he also had about 15-20 other bottles, I wanted including a couple of very rare examples at very reasonable/cheap prices.

The Plain Jane C.A. Tiffany hutch in question...

The more sought after version because of all the embossing and the actual Date and Law showing when the word "Registered" started to be embossed on bottles to protect the rights of bottlers/brewers to save their bopttles from being stolen and reused by others...

The only hutches I would pay more than $20 for now would be quart hutches and David Boyle dated 'PARALLELOGRAM'S' , I have about 25-28 quarts, so I'm always on the lookout to add to the group of them, and just like the Spreitzers above I'd love to fill in dated versions of the Boyles...

Some of my Boyles(I have 7), including the only known "THOMAS PATENT" example ever found. It had marble and gasket and vey squared off shoulders to keep the marble away from the lip when drinking or pouring.
