I've not posted in a long time, but recently went to a couple bottle shows and try to hit antique malls in my spare time. I might be retiring next April and it will give me more time to get out and look around. I've always been a collector of ACLs, commemoratives (except the 8 oz. Cokes), glasses and anything else that catches my eye (signs, paper, trays, toys, etc.).

Anymore though, not much to find in antique malls but still it's the thrill of the hunt. I've backed off signs lately due to the asking prices. No room to display any more anyway.

these are all finds from the past two weekends.

I'm 99% out of room to display things, and had to come up with an idea to display the cups I just got. Went to Menard's and bought a few U-Bolts and a piece of plastic trim. Used false ceiling hooks to hold the U-Bolts and used the trim for the shelf. Only used two of the U-Bolts though. Worked out well, and it's level even though my picture taking skills with my phone don't show it :).

I've hung light weight things from the ceiling panels for a long time, carefully using push pins to go around the edges. On a few heavier things, I've used the ceiling tile channels for additional support on one or two sides. And a few times I've used 4 ceiling hooks and inserted wooden rods between them. This will adequately support plastic menu boards, etc. No sense wasting valuable space.

Some great graphics on those ACLs! Also, I have to wonder the story was behind a drink called "Myopia Club". That's probably the strangest name for a soda brand I've ever heard.

I found a huge crate full of these really big waxed paper Pepsi-Cola cups from the early 1990's last year. I ended up making smoothies and used all the cups for the smoothies.

There's no city information on the bottle but I found out the company was based in Islington, MA. There's also a Myopia Hunt Club in Hamilton, MA., and it was founded by four brothers with poor eyesight. The two cities are about 50 miles apart. The Myopia Club is supposed to be the oldest country club in the USA, beginning in the 1870s. It didn't directly tie the bottle to the club but I'd guess there's some connection.

Great idea on that hanging shelf. I’m 110% out of space!
Hi - Thanks for the compliment on the cup shelf. I wasn't sure it would work but came out ok. I started hanging things on the ceiling a few years ago, the items would just be stacked up or in a box otherwise. Push pins work well for light weight items, I put the pins along the side being careful to not pierce the item. Now, the ceiling space is at a premium. I've used plant hooks on the rails with rods between them for a few larger items too. Attaching a few pictures. I took these with my phone so they aren't the best.

Great signs! I have also started with some smaller stuff on my basement ceiling . LOL
