Sagamore wanego

Dug a shallow privy a couple days ago and found this light aqua SAGAMORE WANEGO bottle. I dug one of these a few years ago that was almost a black glass color.I believe i posted it on her back then.Most of these bottles have Dr. Sagamore embossed on them.

also found this hard to come by Richmond,Va. pharmacy bottle.I dug a milkglass one like this back in the winter.This came from dump on the same property.

The privy only had a few slicks and the Sagamore bottle along with a few marbles.

Wonder if the marbles were thrown in the priv, or of they were deposited?

Most likely thrown or shot in by kids with a sling shot but who knows back then. The other option i really couldnt imagine[:'(]

Kids do strange things. I can remember getting yelled at for running my matchboxes around a really cool circular race track / toilet bowl. Them old outhouse made for a decent short table for shooting marbles and I'm sure some fell out of pockets as well as being flung with a sling shot as well. Close the door and you have your own private shooting gallery. Swiz

There's a couple tiny ads for Dr Sagamore in column 2 [below the fold of this edition The Highland Recorder of (Monterey, Highland County, Va.) from September, 7, 1900:

Was this a Commonwealth bottle?

Surfaceone i dont think it was a commonwealth of Virginia bottle.I have heard of them being dug in Ohio to but that doesnt mean much either. Since i dug the other one a few years ago i have never seen another with just Sagamore and not Dr. Sagamore.Dont know if this makes it a scarcer variant or not.But, i do know you dont see them very often at least not around me locally.

I don't know...it could well be a Va bottle. I dug one years ago in Abingdon,VA. and bought a labeled example from a VA collector. Unfortunately the label is a bit ratty, faded, and has no town or State.
