Thanks Both,
Pretty sure now it's for a hinged lid like a tankard top.
Surfaceone, Thanks for the photo complement. I don't think it's a jelly jar but will keep that in mind. It's heavier than it looks, the bottom is recessed like an old saloon beer mug or a root beer mug you used to get...
Not sure where to ask this but I'm sure someone here will know the answer....
I have this old beer mug. Not sure how old but I'm pretty sure it's old enough to be called old. Anyway at the top of the handle it's got indents molded into the sides of the handle, it's also got a bit of a...
Is this Abe? And I saw in an old 2005 post that this bottle is an Italian repro. (Whiskyman post here https://www.antique-bottles.net/forum/fb.asp?m=31333&key=lincoln%2Citalian )
Repro of what? When was it made? And lastly any value at all to it?
The lady I bought mine from said she'd...
Bill, that was one of my thoughts as well. I keep thinking that somone's done their version of a Blenko 384 water bottle, but with slightly different dimensions, etc. .... But I keep doing image searches and checking glass sites and I'm just not finding any other samples of this mold.
One...
I think in all likelyhood those bottles all discarded there broken or were put there to *be broken*. Unless you find something real interesting real quick I'd move on.
I'm really not wanting to just pile on but, no it's not just you.
It kinda looks like a Blenko water bottle shape but it's not Blenko (at least not known). I've had two people suggest it might be a medicine bottle of some kind.
It's 9-3/4" (24.5cm) tall, 5" wide, 2-3/4" deep. Weighs 3.5 lbs. Rough pontil scar. It looks like a mold line splits the...
If I read right the original versions of this bottle (Lancaster? and Keene? and others?) made in the 1800s bring hundreds and superior examples can bring tens of thousands.
whiskeyman, what makes you say an 'early one'? Is it that the embossing is good from a mold that hasn't made zillions...
This is (I'm fairly sure) a Clevenger 'Washington-Albany Glass works/Sailing Ship' flask. The base has a circular depression in the center. The top is ground flat.
My question is this top finish intentional from the factory? Was there supposed to be an applied/tooled lip? Did someone cut...
Thanks Steve,
An inquiry in another board was able provide a scan from a reference which listed this as '#64 - Jenny Lind Jug - 9"'. Would you know if the '#64' is the pattern number for this particular bottle, or was it just an item number from a particular catalog?
I agree regarding...
Hi All, First post - new to AB.net but not new to glass in general - was directed here for info on this bottle.
It's a Jenny Lind repro and I'm assuming Clevenger by what I've read. The top is a pitcher or jug top. Were these common? I could not find any info on them in my web searches...
