It is very rare to find this many intact pontiled bottles. As for the showing off.......I think everyone should show off their digs weather they are digging 1930's bottles or 1830's bottles. To be honest I like digging for 1920's milks as much as digging pontils....I just like digging for old...
paddla, no...not deep at all. the ones I dug in the cellar hole were surface scratchs. The trash pit was a little less than 4ft, prolly more like 3 1/2 ft.
YUP.........We need to GET ER' DUG before the developers do........how many pontiled bottles do they DESTROY with there machinery each day???..........COUNTLESS. It make me want to CRY......This is why we as bottle diggers need to ...........>
GET ER' DUUUUUUUUUG!!!!!!!!!
Thanks guys and gals for your AWESOME replies.....Every digger just dreams about finding those pontils......but as we all know pontiled bottles are OLD....and thin.......and easily broken.......if all the ones I found broken were intact I prolly would have about 30 to post......I just love...
All it takes is time.........the whole ones are out there........you just have to keep at it.......it's like a game of odds.....sort of like a slot machine.........if you play enough.......you are bound to win![;)]
I dug this one before I found the pontiled dump....dug it at the same dump I got the milks the other day.....it is a neat one embossed with a PILGRIM....never seen this one before???
