ok, Brad, thanks for that info. guess it must have been one of the flasks used right up until prohibition. Flask has some light stain but not too bad, no chips or cracks at all.
By the way, did you ever find out about a second CCC chancre cure being found, just curious as I still have mine...
wow - thanks for the info, I'd sure like to dig that garbage pile
I have found some other interesting tidbits about J.H. Patton - he opened a saloon/restaurant in 1903 at 413-A Polk street in Amarillo and have confirmed on a sanborn of 1904, also same location confirmed in 1908, however in...
hi all,
I just found what I'm pretty sure will end up being a great old texas saloon flask, bought at a local flea market yesterday - embossed J.H. PATTON - AMARILLO, TEXAS.
Anyone ever heard of this proprietor of other examples of this flask ?
Thanks,
john
All,
I've got a possible great dig coming up and was looking for any tips on how to crack open an old stone/mud/brick cellar that has been colapsed and filled in for over 100 years.
just waiting for a break in the heat wave for my buddy and me to tackle.
thanks,
john
you obviously don't buy too many high dollar bottles - insurance alone on a 1500.00 item is 18.00, throw in good packing for a fragile item with priority mail delivery and the cost does get up there. you are probably right it is a little high if the ebay calc says 33.00, however, its only a...
basically, what I've got into it and what other collectors have commented to me as to a reasonable opening price. Its a superb example.
By the way, I've noticed the hit rate climbing on this ebay item - thanks to the power of the bottle forum - you guys rock.

hi all,
I'm getting somewhat frustrated on a flask I have up for sale on a current ebay auction. Surely some NC collector needs this flask for their collection !!!
Its a C.C. West ARION SALOON Flask, Embossed and LABELED, Charlotte, NC flask, see ebay item number 110816260070...
I am open to offers on this one, but I have to admit I've got quite a bit into it:
Clear 1/2 pint with sunburst or spiderweb pattern on both sides. Perfect condition.
Its embossed IRON FRONT SALOON LLANO, TEX., H.W. MCGHEE & CO.
Note the very unusual upside down logo !!!!
thanks Brad - will do.
Do you collect other Texas bottles besides meds or cures ? I've got another rather special bottle, a flask, from the IRON Front Saloon - LLano, TEX. - H.W. MCGHEE prop that I may be trying to sell soon. Its pretty awesome, I'll send you a photo if you like.
