Plummy, Do I remember you being from Columbus? If so , not too far from you is Mount Vernon and that surrounding area has some nice ginseng . Today the market price on a dry pound here in Ohio is about $580 to $650 . I see where a very good digger in Vermont sold his up there a coule of days...

Actually the above picture is one I dug about a year ago I think. I thought I saved some pictures of the other pontiled pedal jar but am having trouble locating it. I think it had a bunch of other pontils in the same picture. kevin.

Also dug a little hillside dump recently while ginseng hunting that someone had beat me to years ago. Stuff ranged from the 1840's to the 1920's I knew something was up pretty quickly when I noticed all the pontiled pieces on top of the screw tops. Everything was outta context. Here is a picture...

This is my guess also , but as Joe states the indent on top is odd. It does show a little wear inside the indent like something rubbed on it but anything dug can show signs of wear on it. Maybe an insulator that was held by the top and the bottom?? Twig.

Thanks Joe! On a normal season without the drought my Dad and I will dig about 4 to 5 lbs each up here. This has been an off season but it is still enjoyable no matter what. My wife said the green thing looks like some sorta art deco drinking glass. I shoulda got the camera out as I dug it out...

Joe, The season was a little slow this year. We had a long dry season and it hurt the tops on the ginseng. It is about all gone now with the couple of hard frosts and wind we have had in the last week. Found a area about 40 minutes from here that must have had a few rain showers that we didnt...
