Just thought a few of you might enjoy a fresh angle on the archeologists vs privy digging argument. I've used both the Sex Pistols and Billy Mayes in our defence. No need to get into a debate over it because it's mostly comic relief!

Dug this beauty the other day. It came from an early pontil pit. It was in 2 halves but I was able to glue it pretty successfully. I'm 99% certain that it's a U.S pot lid. I've not been able to track it down and feel that it may be a rare one. Anyone seen this before?
Hi all.... I believe this is a rarer pontiled med. The only listing I've found so far is in Digger O'Dell's. The spelling I've given is as is on the bottle. Anyone have any ideas on how rare and what it might be worth?
Thanks, John.

I've had 10 permissions this year in the Lexington area. All of the homes but one were pontil era. Of the 15 pits I've probed and looked into, 12 have already been dug by earlier diggers. How about that for a...
I'm an experienced privy digger who'd love the chance to go on a few digs in the Louisville or cincinnatti area. I live in Lexington Ky and am having a hard time finding anything that hasn't been dug here. To give you an example: my last five permissions have all been previously dug!
So if...
Hi folks...nothing good to report. I just came to Lexington, KY, recently and was looking forward to some good digging here. So far I've found two privies that have both been dug. It seems I've been beaten to it! I can only hope that the whole place hasn't been nailed.
Hi folks... just wondered if anyone had done much country probing. I've dug many town privies but few in the country. I'd only mess with nicer farm houses--1810-1870-- where there was some money to spend on the sort of stuff a digger is after! Are the privies often located in similar spots, and...
