    Dug this jug today

Here's a crier for me. I dug this jug at a cellar hole I have been digging in. It was stuck in the side wall. It has a chip in the lip, and the handle is broken off, but this is as close as I have come to a whole jug. I usually just find pieces. I'm happy with it though. It will hold my change...

    A few finds digging

I got out for a couple hours to a spot that I hunted about a year ago. There are three different dump sites on about 20 acres of wooded area. All three areas seem to be from different periods, so you'll see a variety of ages here. Nothing great, but I thought the coolest one was the purple...

    Privy questions for the experts!

Since the weather has prevented me from digging, I have been doing a lot of searching at the older cellar holes I have access to. All of them are out in the woods, so the privy's have been difficult to find. I am still looking forward to digging my first privy. I have found two different cellar...

    Pepsi bottle

I was given this pepsi bottle to my by my neighbor......for free... Anyone know the date? I'm guessing 1910-1920's. Any other info would be great. Not sure what the "J" on the bottom means. Couldn't find a bottle maker with just the letter "J". Thanks for looking Kevin

    A few bottles

I haven't had time to go dig, and the weather has been terrible this year, but I recieved these bottles from my neighbor.....for free. I know they are not worth much, but you can't beat free. Especially for a new collector. This guy goes to auctions and gets bottles sometimes. Thanks for...

    Spools??

I found these few pieces over the last year while digging for bottles. Not sure what some of them are. I believe the taller one in the middle is an insulator or spool for a fence post. It has Knox embossed at the top. The other two I don't know. The one on the left looks like some type of wheel...

Any other diggers in Central Kentucky?

I have been digging for about 2 years, and have yet to find a privy. I still consider myself very new to this hobby, and am willing to learn. Have spent my time in the woods at old cellar holes and dumps. If anyone is near Central City KY and would like to go on a dig, let me know. Happy hunting!!

    Orange crush bottle

I found this orange crush bottle in an old cellar hole I have been digging. It's embossed on the front with "Orange Crush Bottling Company, Greenville KY". It also has 6 1/2 FLU OZS. There is a big "L" embossed on the bottom. It is a light aqua color. Any help on the age or the history would be...

    Info on ceramic insulator?

Today I found this brown ceramic insulator walking a power line. It was attached to an old wooden board off the previous power pole. It is 4 3/4 inches tall, 4 1/4 inches wide at the base, and 13 inches in diameter at the base. I don't know anything about these. Are these collectable? How old is...

    Pontil mark?

I am new to this site and to digging bottles. I posted this in the pre-1900's forum, but I figured I would post it here too. I have been digging in a trash pit that has given me bottles from 1890-1920 period. Then I found this broken bottle (attached). I don’t have a lot of experience, since I...
