The bottles on the REPUBLIC are in a book called Bottles from the Deep. Just colored photos of the bottles, no pictures of the bases.
Looks like we have the 6 logs down, any of the 4 log ones that are able to be pinned to down to a certain time?
A book called The Bertrand Bottles has pictures of all the bottles along with line drawings of the sides and even the bottoms. If only all bottle books were like that.
There were also 6 log Drakes on the Stamship Republic that went down off the coast of Georgia in 1865.
The one I have is a one piece (no applied top) and doesn't have a pontil. I'm pretty sure it was an early repro. I also have an Albany flask in the same exact color (actually I bought them both at the same time, from the same collector for about $10)
I had a nice AQUA (not blue) with debris in the glass. It looked like an original. The bad thing is, someone broke it. I'd love to find another in aqua, doubt I ever will.
I would make Civil War Period Bottles in AQUA so that reenactors could have some proper bottles to use. Scroll flasks, Jenny Linds, CORRECT peppersauce, fluted Ketchup bottles... etc.
I almost bought the old Clevenger Brother Scroll flask mold a few months back off of Ebay, to have some blown...
