I knew Kathy for many years, writing articles for her in the 'Soda Fizz' days. I hadn't seen her in a long time, but knew her health was not good. Hate to hear this.
I was looking for some info on bottle molds online. I came across this bottle manufacturer in China. They had an 'ANTIQUE' page so I thought I would look and see what they can make. I was surprised to see the photos of what they can manufacture. One is a rare Coca-Cola Hutch from Brunswick, GA...
Two things have happened recently that helped me decide to sell some of my collection: Ran out of room on my shelves AND currently out of a job. I'll be listing some bottles from my collection. Check out the link below to see what I've got. I will list more as I come across bottles I decide to...
RE: Correction
Basing the patent year on some of the Patents you placed earlier-Patent 49,730 ~ Robert C. Graham ~ Filed June 30, 1916 ~ Patented October 3, 1916
I think that is a very close match.
OK-I'll shut up now. Sorry to confuse you Bob.
RE: Correction
1. I can't say how many examples there are of this broken bottle.
2. I can say how many examples of this broken bottle I know of......2
3. The broken bottle was patented in 1916, just like Gary's.
4.This broken bottle has ATLANTA, GA embossed on the bottom, just like Gary's...
Yes-I have read a lot about Raymond Loewy. An interesting man that designed MANY things for the Coca-Cola Company as well as designing trains, cars, company logos, etc.
I hadn't read this particular article you found though.
Thanks
While searching the web today I came across this article by accident. A very interesting read on the history of Laurens Glass Works. So, if you are tired of reading about Ahab the Arab on the forum.....here is something completely different.
Read it HERE
Sorry I couldn't take the link...
Here is a more recent story from November 2012:

Something fishy is what is up....the seller has 1 feedback, from when he bought the same exact bottle he is auctioning. http://www.ebay.com/itm/111053565049#ht_50wt_1202
He paid $100 for it, now someone with NO feedback is running up the price. I guess with this sheikh buying everything up...
A friend showed me this bottle years ago. I think it was one of the contest bottles too, but was the loser. We all know the contour from ROOT won.
This bottle has arrows on the neck area, panels, much like the soda water bottles used by Coca-Cola bottlers, marked: ATLANTA, GA on the bottom...
I did not realize that the Treasure State bottle was worth so much. I bought this one with a 'Best Offer', under $20. http://www.ebay.com/itm/390545440481?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
The label has a few issues. I was able to get the rust stains off using Bar Keepers...
Hey Jerry
The only two 10 oz embossed ones I've seen from Alabama were: Aliceville and York.
I have not seen a Demopolis, AL one before.
I'll keep an eye out for one.
The '84' is the year it was made, 1984. The D that is pressed into the glass at the base is something that helps line up the bottle with the silk screen, so when they applied the Coca-Cola and Coke it was placed in the correct spot, not on a seam, etc.
The other numbers are codes used by the...
I didn't mean to say your bottle is from 1937, that is when the design was registered, I meant to say it is from around the time it was registered to maybe 1940's. The later South Africa bottle moved the Design Number to the body of the bottle, embossed under Coca-Cola.
I did find this listing for two different bottles, one with the RD DES NO on the bottom/base and say that one is considered 'Rare'. I could not find much information on Registered Design Numbers here in the U.S., try looking for that info locally.
Here is the web address for the bottle...
The
is the South Africa equivalent of the U.S. Patent number. A South African Coca-Cola bottle from the 1940's. Possibly it means the Registered Design Number 547 in 1937, which would make it from 1937, but that is just conjencture on my part.
