what are the weird marks on the corner? Graduations, scratches, decorations, figments of my imagination?
I saw those too and I was thinking shovel marks? [:D] No idea really.

Are the marks on all four corners or just the one?

post a picture in natural light, probably made from same glass as cheaper uncleared window glass. Looks like Gunther Hess's window.

The pontil looks very similar to my Amelung Flask.

Lancaster Co. is close enough to Md ....and Stiegle workers went there. Also if you know the age of the other items in the hole that would be helpful to make an educated guess-timate.

Here I am holding it up to an original pane at John Frederick's house.

It came from an early pontiled wood liner in Lancaster, Pa. My guess would be that it predates the other bottles that we found that day.

Well - I saw my name mentioned - but I am not an authority on bottles this old. It is fantastic and unique. The link shows something similar. I couldn't detect anything special about the bottom corners. It is almost something special enough to be shown to the Jane Spilman woman at the Corning Museum of Glass.

Here's a couple more recent pictures of this bottle. If any one on this forum knows who I could contact for info. on this bottle it would be much appreciated.
