Small open pontil

This little bottle only measures 1 1/2" tall. It is obviously open pontil, but has a 1/2" crk at the lip on top. I think it is definately a keeper, but my only guess as to what it is, would be an ink bottle?[8|]
Is there any value to something like this, other than it being only my second OP ever dug?? Any replies appreciated. Thank you, Marvin

Those little things are cool. I have two of them that I dug from the same pit, and they are the only two pontils that small that I have found. I wondered the same thing when I found mine, what were they?

I never did find out for sure, but would guess that they held some type of glue or cement. I found my two among several other pontiled inks, glues and mucilage bottles. ~Jim

Thank you Jim and lobey. Any open pontil, no matter how large or small, are nice to me. I didn't even think of it being open pontil until I cleaned it and discovered the ridge of glass on the base. This one and a op umbrella ink are my only two thus far. I hope to find more soon. Thanks for the replies gentlemen[:)] Marvin

It was two blocks of open digging area where slabs were removed. The area had houses there back in the 1800's so privie's were there as well as land fill dumping. It is no longer available for digging but I got my share of bottles and jugs there. Thanks for the reply and happy digging. Marvin[:)]

Those are what pontiled contact lenses came in.[;)][8|][X(]
