I recently received this pint flask. It’s nicely made with diagonal swirls and an open Pontil on the base. One side has a cluster if grapes. The other side has what appears to be a family crest. A crown on top of a shield and inside the shield this beast that is not a horse. I’m guessing a mythical leucurcuta. Am I out of my mind?!! Any guesses on the origins or animal? Guesses-input Much appreciated. I’m thinking it's a European flask cecause of the coat of arms or family crest.

Does it have wings? It looks fairly horse-like to me, could be a pegasus if it's got wings and just a regular horse if not. The animals on old bottles are often not particularly accurate depictions.

No wings. It has a real short jaw like a wolf, a horse like body, and that long curly tufted tail like that on a lion (picture 4). I’m perplexed to say the least!

Oh so that's what I was seeing. Yeah the long tail does complicate things, no matter how bad someone was at drawing horses they wouldn't give it a tail like that, not if they'd ever seen a horse before anyway.
