Not sure what to say as the only thing I know for sure is it's brass, marked US and dug by a uncle who passed several years ago who dug it up while planting a vegatable garden. Which leaves age? Any ideas?

depending on where it was found, and if you're considering selling it, it would do well in a western style auction with emphasis on the Indian war era. Nice find

We just finished watching the movie Buffalo Soldiers and this exact buckle is in it! I recognized it right off.
