Hey Guys, Nothing earth shattering here, but I wanted to get your opinion on what I assume is a civil war era wine bottle. This is in pristine condition and apparently dug as it has a small amount of dirt still under the rim. It also has a really nice lean to it when sitting on the shelf. This came off of a 50 cent table at a yard sale last summer. I also picked up a very cracked ovoid stoneware pot from the same sale for the same price. I hope to find more bottle this year at yard sales, but it's rare to find black glass from what I have seen so far... Thanks,ChrisP

We dig those in Texas in an 1860's context typically. When the other bottles come out sick as can be these always come out shiny...

Can't go wrong at 50 cents. Does it have a pontil mark?

You may not see it but sometimes you can feel for it.It would more likely be part way up the "kick-up" and very faint.
